Humans are a weird mix of rationality and emotion.

We think we make logical decisions, we think we’re the ones in control… but despite all those good intentions to save our hard earned cash for something sensible, we end up with a sexy new laptop on our desk and this year’s flagship smartphone in our pocket.

No Ragrets.

So how the hell can we make copy generate irrational, mind-blowing desire in our prospects that not only takes them all the way to the checkout page but also makes them feel fantastic about money well spent?

And what turns us away from making logical, sensible decisions that are good for our bank account, and blowing it all on something that we just want?

The search for the answer led me all over the internet, through reams of psychological studies, into a few books written by academics (the good kind) and to one very powerful Ted Talk by Dan Ariely (more on that soon).

Turns out psychologists have done a ton of research on how to generate desire. And yes, you can do it with words.
